Castlemartin and Kilpaison

Very dry down on Castlemartin Corse with no water in front of the reedbed - no surprise with such a long spell of dry weather and the beach outfall wide open. The Webs, therefore, a non event with 9 Snipe and 1 Grey Heron. Better on the raptor front, however, with 2 possibly 3 Kestrel, a Buzzard and a female Marsh Harrier. Also a Merlin which was perched on a bush by the reedbed just past Starmans Hall as I walked up the Corse and was still there some 40 mins later when I walked back - perhaps digesting a Pipit.

A quick look at Kilpaison - 240 Wigeon, 16 Brents. The tide was still well up and waders were still in the roost on the north side of the bay.
