Castlemartin Corse

WEBS, with Rob Lewis. Water levels had dropped since Rob's visit last week when flooding was extensive, but still plenty of birds on the wet meadows upstream of the group of pine trees. 1800 lapwing (200 more on Gupton), 50 wigeon, 30 teal, 12 mallard, 2 shoveler, 13 greylag, 90 snipe, 1 jack snipe, 1 little egret. Water rail heard in 6 locations in the reedbed, and 5 singing Cetti's well spaced between the old decoy ponds and Starman's Hall. We didn't see the marsh harrier (Rob saw it last week) but we did see a female sparrowhawk (Rob saw 2 last week) and a buzzard appeared as we'd turned to go.
