Pembroke Millpond & general area this afternoon, plus Pembs Bird Conference

A brisk walk around Pembroke Millpond this afternoon produced a colour-ringed Black-headed gull Yellow TJ55. This one, like a few others observed here over the last few years or so, appears to have been ringed in Poland - location details and ringing date still to be confirmed.

In addition, a few fly-over black-tailed godwits and a couple of greenshanks were heading towards Pembroke River. Over at Cosheston Pill another 23 black-tailed godwits were feeding on the shore. Flocks of winter finches appear to be building up slowly around the Martletwy area - mainly chaffinches so far and the odd brambling. Goldfinches appeared to be quite numerous in Holyland Wood today; probably a couple of dozen were feeding on seed in the Alders there.

Bookings are coming in for the forthcoming Pembrokeshire Bird Conference on Sunday 26th Nov.  If you haven't booked already there is still time to do so. Booking details can be found via the link here. Some further details below.

Thanks to David Gardner, you can also learn more about the Conference programme via this link http://pembrokeshirelifeonline.uk/pembrokeshire-bird-conference-2017

It promises to be a cracking day with some excellent talks so we hope you can come.
