Angle Peninsula

Spring Birds course based at Orielton:

Friday morning - murky weather at Angle Bay - small numbers of waders, turnstone and dunlin in summer plumage, good numbers of whimbrel.  Nice to see a great northern diver near the lifeboat station - probably an immature as still in winter plumage.  No signs of godwits.

Not much activity at Castlemartin Corse. More whimbrel on the shore at Freshwater West, and five sandwich terns feeding along the surf.

Evening visit to St Govan's Head to see large numbers of shearwaters heading for Skomer and Skokholm, also three porpoises close in.  But no swifts yet.
