Marloes Mere Marsh Harriers and Firecrests at St Brides - Monday

A bit late, but there were two Marsh Harriers at the Mere yesterday afternoon, apparently one female and one male as there was a big size difference when they flew close together, but they were in silhouette when viewed from Oriole hide, so cannot be sure. Later I located the male on a tall bush on the hedgeline below Trehill farm where it stayed for at least an hour. The Britton hide log has several recent records of Marsh Harrier.

Earlier in the morning at St Brides there were at least two and possibly four or more very vocal and active Firecrests - two around the big holly tree by the wall of the orchard and then two, possibly different birds, in the overgrown woods opposite the gate to the orchard.
