The Teifi

A bit of effort around the estuary and reserve today for a change. A Wheatear was the only summer visitor seen, and Golden Plovers, a Lapwing and a Pintail were nice to find here. Only one female Pintail today though two were with c100 Wigeon yesterday.  A Greenshank is keeping company with 42 Redshank and a handful of Dunlin remain. At least one Coot moves around the reserve and 5+ Goosander are present on the river.
Goldcrests and Coal Tits with a couple of Blackcaps and Chiffchaff have been of interest when ringing this past week. We have now caught five Cetti's Warblers recently - puzzling as we have spent a summer without seeing, hearing or catching them.
