Marloes Mere

I finally saw one of the Garganeys that a few people have mentioned they have seen at the Mere over the last few weeks, which have somehow eluded me on every drop in visit.

The highlight I think though was two swifts flying over the Mere and a lone Dunlin bombing about at high speed.

The Canada Goose family look to still be doing ok. Otherwise just the usual Coot, Mallard, Moorhen and Little Grebe pair showing while I was there on an otherwise quiet visit.

A couple of Great Tit were working their way along the hedge of the lower path and a couple of Reed Buntings were in the willows next to path. A wren was showing well on the track down from Runwayskiln to the mere. You coud hear various Sedge Warblers about. The Sandmartins are enjoying flying over the water of the mere. A couple of Pied Wagtails about, one of which was activly trying to hunt the dragonfly over the water of the mere.
