The first Golden Plovers (35) of the autumn for here were on the mudflats at the mouth of Sprinkle Pill. Coincidental or not, a first Peregrine was also in attendance. 2 Wigeon were the first of this species also. Otherwise, numbers of smaller waders have still to rise, a few Redshank and a couple of Greenshank only and a flock of 7 Dunlin with a single juvenile Sanderling. 2 Black-tailed Godwits and 55 Curlews made up the larger waders. As the tide rose an Osprey flew down the western bank of the Cleddau, turning at Black Tar where it crossed the river and hunted up the eastern shore, into the wind. Hats off to it, despite the water surface being significantly ruffled by the northerly wind, it managed to find itself a fish.
