Snow Bunting @ Marloes Mere

A beautiful afternoon at Marloes Mere, sunny and still, and a nice surprise in the form of a Snow Bunting on the track between the Youth Hostel and the Britton Hide.  It was quite confiding, gradually moving east, with a brief foray along the track towards the beach just beyond the YH, and last seen in the field just behind the YH.  A lone juvenile dark-bellied Brent Goose was in the Trehill Fields, and the mere held plenty of the usual ducks including at least 20 Shoveler.  2 collybita Chiffchaffs were in the willows either side of the hide.  A walk over to the coast gave some superb views of the islands in such clear light, including Grassholm and the Smalls.  Skokholm looked a little lonely now that Richard & Giselle have left for the winter.
