Carew - swifts this evening

Arriving at Carew Castle, just before sunset, with others to help out with a bat survey, two swifts were flying over Carew village (a regular breeding location). They were our first swifts this spring.

Starlings (at least a few pairs) are also nesting in Carew village and further up the hill at Whitehill. Nice to see that small colonies of both of these species are still breeding in the area.
