SWAINSON'S PERFORMS - THE CHAMPAGNE FLOWS

The Swainson's Thrush performed brilliantly in the sunlight on Skokholm today, watched by a crowd of 50 delighted and extremely well-behaved birders. And the Champagne flowed: since one group had brought their own to celebrate a superb morning and superb tick. A Firecrest in the same Courtyard bushes added some extra colour.

Everyone was enormously grateful to Richard and Giselle and helpers for making a huge effort to get everyone out to the Island to see the bird and also to Dale Sailing for making the trip in what was a challenging swell! This was only the second ever  twitch to Skokholm, the first was for the Bobolink in 1999 so today was a big day and hopefully the harbinger of many more brilliant days with birds out there. Many thanks to all involved.
