Stack Rocks

Yesterday at Stack Rocks on the Castlemartin coast the seabird colonies were still busy though the Guillemots on the top of the main stack were a little spread out as many chicks have now made the big jump and gone out to sea with their Dads.

I could only find a couple of young amongst the throng and whilst some fish were being brought in the birds were holding their catch rather than immediately feeding chicks. I wonder if many of the birds still on the stacks or loafing on the water are failed or non breeders. Whatever, this was quite likely one of the last opportunities to see and photograph this wonderful mainland colony before all the birds go back to the sea.
