Just spent a couple of days in the Marloes area. Yesterday at The Gann with the tide dropping there were 3 Knot, 8 Dunlin and 2 Ringed Plover on the beach whilst on the pools there was a Ruff, 7 Redshank, 1 Greenshank and a Little Egret. 6 Wheatears were on the grass and 5 White Wags at the top of the beach. (See also John Freemands info for yesterday).

On to Dale Airfield which was quiet apart from 21 Wheatears. In the afternoon it was also quiet at Marloes Mere apart from a few Wigeon, Shoveller and 2 Black-tailed Godwits. At the Deer Park 3 young Swallow were on the barbed wire at the bottom of Rath Cottage garden being fed by their parents - a late brood from the ones which nest in the toilets perhaps?

A superb sunset over Skomer from Marloes Mere Car Park closed the day.

This morning there was a stunning sunrise behind the Murco Refinery and an early visit to The Gann was pretty eventful - 2 Kingfishers, 4 Knot, 30 Dunlin, 7 Ringed Plover, 3 Turnstone, 3 Wheatear, 15 Alba Wags (mainly White), a Fox and brief views of 3 Otters (Mother and 2 Cubs) on the far side of the pools swimming into the Reeds.

Onto the Deer Park which I had to myself  with great views of 15+ Chough and 7 Wheatear. Also 1 Whinchat and, on the beaches, several young Grey Seal Pups.

Click on the Swallow for some photos of a nice couple of days.
