Martins Haven Firecrest

A male Firecrest seen well this morning in the sallows by the road. Remarkably silent (although I had heard a few Goldcrest-like calls earlier) and not obviously associating with any other species.
A nice variety of smaller birds have been dropping in mid-morning: a Blackcap, Reed Buntings, Blue, Great and Coal Tits, Chaffinches and squabbling Robins. And at least one Water Rail calling a bit higher up the valley.

There is also a flock of 17 Choughs in the area, generally moving between the Deer Park and the fields by the Car Park: they are noisy and pretty approachable: great fun to watch.

update: Firecrest still present 1630-1800, working his way around the bushes regularly (and fast!).
Kestrel, Peregrine, Merlin and Sparrowhawk all seen in/over the valley this afternoon.
