Castlemartin Corse

650 Lapwings on the flooded fields at the far, east end of the Corse early afternoon together with a few duck - 16 Mallard, 42 Teal, 38 Wigeon and 12 Shoveller. Surprisingly no ducks at all on the water in front of the reedbed where I would expect there to be decent numbers at this stage of the winter. Also a very noticable lack of small birds on the Corse.

The female Marsh Harrier put in a fairly brief appearance on the far side of the reedbed and whilst sitting in the hide a load of Snipe started flying around flushed by a Ringtail Hen Harrier which passed by low and fast. A little later on my way back to the car park I looked back and the Hen Harrier was flying low over the water in front of the hide, dinking at  the Snipe. It then flew up the hedge by the hide and headed off towards the road and Castlemartin Range
