Pembroke Millpond this afternoon

We had a brief, if somewhat rain-interrupted, look at the Middle Millpond this afternoon and also along Pembroke Dock Front Street, but there was no sign there of the GN Diver noted there yesterday afternoon.

The Millpond though now has two scaup present. The greyer/darker bird appears to be slightly the bolder of the two.

Not that many years ago, there would have been a small flock of pochard on the Millpond by early January, a once regular wintering species - not a certainty though these days!

Little grebe numbers appear to be high. We didn't do a complete count of the Millponds but noted c. 15 feeding on small fish in just a small area of the Middle pond we were watching at dusk.
