I was looking down at the lake and reedbed when a firecrest appeared right in front of me, feeding in the ivy along the wall of the terrace. Too close for binoculars! For weeks this spot has been fobbing me off with goldcrests and chiffchaffs. Lake quiet, just a couple of goosanders and a female goldeneye up this end.
