No Sand Martins or White Wagtails yet.....but what an evening.
We went on a visit to Mallard Pond for a hunting Barn Owl. First a wander through our ringing area and two Jack Snipe. Shortly after, a Barn Owl appeared hunting along a favoured hedge below Heron Hide. Ten minutes later two calling Bitterns slowly flying overhead and away to the east.
Just one of those evenings...

March 22nd 2010, at 7pm I watched two calling Bitterns circle up in the sky and fly off east. That was the last Bittern sightings of that winter.
