Pencarnan - A tale of seven warblers

Patch birding this AM delivered 7 warbler species : BC, CC, WW, Sedge, Common Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat and Gropper.

The Lesser Whitethroat gave us the greatest thrill when one delivered several intermittent rattles close to where we stood (5paces!) near Trefeiddan Marsh.

However, it was the Grasshopper Warbler that gave us the most interest.

While walking along the Pencarnan track I heard a Gropper reeling that Marion could not hear. At the same time Marion heard a second bird reeling on the opposite side of the track that I could not hear. Both birds were quite vocal. Following five minutes of experimentation, we learnt that I had lost the higher tones and while Marion had lost the lower tones. Is there a lesson here?

Yes. When you are in your seventies it may help to have a partner.
