Wheatears (not)

In contrast to the large numbers of Wheatears reported below a visit to St Govan's early yesterday afternoon turned up just one - but at least I got a shot of it. Also there a confiding Chough but otherwise very quiet with a strong east wind blowing.

At Freshwater West earlier the Sand Martin colony was in full swing with 20+ birds flying around the cliff top. At home in St Florence the House Martins are also back revisiting their nests.

This morning I had a look round Manorbier headland and Lydstep but failed to see any Wheatears at all. Just goes to show, I guess, how local a fall can be.................or perhaps old age is telling on my eyes!
