Yellow-browed at Ty Rhyg

Two yellow-browed warblers were ringed at Ty Rhyg this morning and a third unringed (and more washed out looking) individual was seen along the main track in the taller willows. This is the first site record for this species though perhaps overdue given the trend towards much higher numbers in recent years. Also present this morning were c.100 redwings at dawn, one or two fieldfares heard overhead, a crossbill, a chiffchaff and at least 30 goldcrest, though probably many more. There was also a noticeable increase in blackbirds, with a heavy bias towards males in the ratio of c.5:1 to females out of 30 observed.
