A festive stroll at Teifi Marshes

We traditionally like to have stroll somewhere on Christmas Day. For a bit of a change of scenery, we headed up to Teifi marshes. The usual expected waterfowl were noted in various pools and creeks. A chiffchaff called briefly near the car park. There were at least 3 kingfishers feeding in various places, with a nice male perched for long periods near the Kingfisher Hide.

There was no sign of a bittern moving around before we had to return home late in the afternoon. Despite dull, drizzly weather it was nice to have quite reasonable views of the Slavonian Grebe. It spent quite a lot of time feeding within fairly close proximity of 3 little grebes on the Teifi near the road bridge but conditions were not ideal for photography. It was quite a nice bird to end our visit on anyway.

Wishing everyone a great festive season.
