Scotering, Black Redstart & Water Pipits

Perhaps 5,000 Common Scoter off Amroth this morning in massive flocks, very active flying to and fro, most too far out to be able to pick out anything more interesting, had it been there (Toby Phelps had a drake Surf Scoter further east at Morfa Bychan just over the Carmarthenshire border a few days ago). Nice to see a female-type Black Redstart on rooftops on the seafront at Amroth adjacent to the public car park. (with Greg Morgan)

This afternoon 2 Water Pipits on Newgale campsite in the fog, along with a Meadow Pipit and 5 Rock Pipits.  The Common Scoter were mainly between Nolton and Druidston, in 2 large flocks, with some 40 birds quite close inshore at Druidston.
