A Thursday run around the south of the county

A highly unusual event - a birding run around the south of the county yesterday 23rd February.

Cosheston Pill - single Black-tailed Godwit and Curlew and a few Wigeon in the channel.

Angle Harbour  - 18 Pale bellied and 1 Dark bellied Brent geese with 3 Pintail, a Great Crested Grebe, c.250 Dunlin,  c. 25 Redshank and a load of distant Wigeon

Bosheston Pools, 8 Arch Bridge - 22 Goosander, 2 Gadwall, c.20 Coot, 2 Dabchick, 2 Heron

Stackpole Gardens - just outside the southern gate a leucistic Robin - almost white with a faded red breast.  Appeared to be mated up with a normal Robin - very striking.

Tenby - at Butlers Horse (below the old lifeboat station) 14 Turnstone but no Purple Sandpipers found.

Wisemans Bridge - 5 Red-breasted Mergansers well offshore towards Monkstone and several hundred Scoter across the whole bay but impossible to count in the rough seas. Of around 300 gulls nearer the beach most Herring Gulls but a few LBB's and GBB,s, a couple of Common Gulls and a single Iceland Gull adult.
