WEBS this morning with Rob and Christine Lewis and Mike Robinson. 13
greylags upstream on the wet meadows, 60
teal, 3
mallard, 1
grey heron. A
cormorant flew in from the coast. The fen meadow was once again lifting with
snipe - we counted over 130, but movements of small parties over the reedbed suggested the true total may be much higher. 7
lapwing were displaying noisily over the reedbed; a moment of drama as a
goshawk powered through, dwarfing the lapwing that mobbed it doggedly until it was out of sight. And we flushed a
short-eared owl from the fen meadow.
