Breeding Water Rail - Teifi Marshes

Water Rails are difficult to prove breeding due to their secretive behaviour and early post breeding movements. Surely this juvenile had not wandered too far from the actual nesting site...?

We caught this juvenile during our CES - (Constant Effort Scheme) ringing at our site in the Pembs part of the Reserve on 25th July. We did see an adult earlier in the week.
See Acros in the Autumn on the Teifi Ringing Group blog for summaries of recent activities.
