Friends have pointed out that I misidentified the duck on the shore at Saundersfoot. A quick glance at the white neck spelled Goosander but a further inspection would have revealed the dark sides to the breast and the long thin bill, spelling Red-breasted Merganser. As such it was not in an usual area at all.
Embarrassing but rectifying the error is nonetheless salutary.
