South Pembs

A great day out in the south of the county. On the way to Angle, I made a quick stop at Pembroke to see if the imm male Scaup was still on the millpond. It was, and showed well very close to the path. Angle was fairly quite at high tide this morning. 50+ Black-headed Gulls were roosting on the shingle spit along with 150 Dunlin. 2 Pale-bellied Brent Geese came into the harbour as the tide dropped. Next the Castlemartin Corse, I have never been here before but its a great site, albeit very muddy! Loads of Snipe flying around the Corse, a female Merlin flew over the reeds and I had great views of the female Marsh Harrier as it hunted over the fields and reedbed. Bumped into Mike and Yvonne Townley, nice to see them again.  Back to Angle for another look. In the harbour, a couple of Redshank and Curlew, and out in the bay, a group of 12 Great Crested Grebes and the highlight, 3 Great Northern Divers, all in the same scope view! Whilst heading home, made a slight detour to Stackpole Court. Between here and the 8 arch Bridge, 7 Gadwall, 6 Wigeon and a lone drake Goosander. A Water Rail was calling from the reeds below Stackpole Court.
