Red-breasted Flycatcher

It was the chattering of a Fieldfare from within the copse of elms that stand beside Rhosson Farm that caused me to hesitate as Marion and I made our way towards the Lifeboat Station. There, only the width of the lane away, sat a "mini robin" without a red breast.

For the next hour and three-quarters, together with Jonathan Bennett who downed tools to dash over from St Davids, we enjoyed the sallying dexterity of this little gem - a first winter RED-BREASTED FLYCATCHER.

During the same period 9 Swallows passed overhead, plus 12 Siskins. Yesterday, the same copse produced a Willow Warbler. Had it not voiced a little of its Spring song I may well have logged it as a willowchiff.

Also yesterday, Marion had a party of 3 Little Egrets pass above her as she checked-out the Treleddyn irrigation pond.
