Far and Near - comparisons

We have recently returned from Cyprus where we enjoyed the winter sunshine and eight hours daily of non stop birding. Twenty days netted a very poor average of 35 species a day. Today we spent two hours on a return walk to Slebech Church, starting out from Blackpool Mill during which, we counted 38 species that included nesting Raven, a massive (really massive) flock of Chaffinch (complete with Brambling and Reed Bunting) and a Green Sandpiper in the leat.
