A great big falcon trying to catch herring gulls got me going a bit - it appeared at low level and took a swipe at a Curlew before trying a couple of gulls and then careered past me about 50 yds away (much too close) to land in the top of the pines. It was brown all over with an indistinct face mask and was probably a big female Peregrine (certainly bigger than the Herring Gulls) although the flight didn't look right and it was very bulky with bigger wings - can't claim anything as the light was crappy but it was quite exciting and you can make all sorts of things up in your mind!!!!!!!!!
