Velvet Scoter,Swans and Owls

The day started well at Broad Haven with a fine female Velvet Scoter offshore, along with 50 Scoter,2 Great Northern Divers,3 Red-throated Divers,1 Great Crested Grebe and 4 Med Gulls(3 adult and 1 1st w) on the beach.Next on to Newgale Marsh where 2 adult Whooper Swans and a further 4 adult Med Gulls were showing well from the pub car park, but no hoped for Water Pipit yet! Late afternoon saw me at the Dowrog Common where on arrival a Short-eared Owl and a Barn Owl were performing perfectly in brilliant light, and finally an adult male and a juv Hen Harrier roosted.Oh,and the Scaup was still present at Penberi.Phew..what a day!
