Continuing with my January tour of the county - flexing the focus fingers - I moved on to Broadhaven for the Surf Scoter and then to Monk Haven for Mike Y P's collybeta chiffs. 4 individuals flitted beneath the rotating sewerage cascade along with Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Blackbirds, Chaffinch and Goldcrest....evidently a charming place for a tasty snack on a cold day.
Next stop Gelliswick Bay where stood an adult winter Med Gull. A check of Castle Pill sadly produced just a single Greenshank. Past winters this was the place for Common and Green Sandpipers, and if lucky, a Spotted Redshank.
My final stop was at Llanstadwall where a falling tide attracted 64 Black-tailed Godwits, (all seemingly "sewing" the tide-line with their dowitcher like hungry assult), c100 Dunlin and 20 Ringed Plovers.
