St Florence

Having remained snow free the area around St Florence continues to hold large numbers of winter thrushes, Lapwing and Golden Plover. 400+ of the latter were flying over the fields just north west of the village this morning and every field seems to hold groups of Lapwing, Fieldfare and Redwing. Yesterday's tally in one field behind my house was 98 Golden Plover, 77 Lapwing, 56 Redwing (450+ today!) and 40 Fieldfares.
A large flooded field adjoining Coal Lane a little west of St Florence held 5 Shoveller, 20 Teal and 15 Canada Geese yesterday and there were 100's of Lapwing and Golden Plover in nearby fields.
