The January count of farmland birds at Gupton Farm took place last Wednesday. A total of 8490 birds was recorded, comprising 29 species. The highest species counts were of 1587 Chaffinch, 1502 Golden Plover, 3000 Lapwing, 1671 Linnet, 392 Skylark and 64 Snipe.
Other species of interest were a Black Redstart, a Merlin, two Jack Snipe and two Water Rails.
