My first visit to the gull roost in some time with Paul G was amply rewarded with:
Ring-billed Gull - adult (presumed returning bird of several winters now)
Glaucous Gull - juvenile (a brute of a bird, quite dark, with a stonker of a dipped-in-ink bill)
Yellow-legged Gull - adult (clean white head, as had many of the adult Herring Gulls seen)
Mediterranean Gull - 7 (5 adults, 2 2nd-winters)
Didn't count the gulls, but approximate totals were Lesser Black-backed Gull 1,000, Black-headed Gull 1,200, Herring Gull 400, Common Gull 50, Great Black-backed Gull 1. Also 2 Goosander, 1 Goldeneye and around 200 Canada Geese.
It was cold!
