The final wintering bird survey of the season was carried out by Rich Crossen, Richard Ellis and me this morning. As expected, the number of birds had fallen dramatically to c.750. Still a few interesting birds around though, including a Short-eared Owl and at least five Chough near the main Freshwater West car park, two or more Cetti's Warblers singing, four Jack Snipe in the marshy fields to the east of Starman's Hall, and last but not least, a Stock Dove: the first recorded at the site all winter.
