We spent another 4 hours looking out to sea in the glorious sunshine. Not much of note by way of seabirds but about 20-30 porpoises were noted heading towards Ramsey Sound during a period of about an hour at high tide late in the afternoon, coming down from Strumble direction - seems to be quite a regular/typical movement here at this stage of tide.
We noted a few red-throated divers in flight, all heading west (possibly towards Ramsey Sound) and a bonxie heading west off North Bishop. Apart from numerous gannets, auks and several manx shearwaters and 2 shelduck (also heading west) it was an afternoon for hirundines. Probably 100+ swallows, 30+ sand martins and a couple of house martins noted - most of these were also heading west (as were small flocks of siskins and goldfinches). As we headed back to the car park 4 whimbrel were in the fields.
