My annaul plea for counts of herons on nests.
Steve & Peter Sutcliffe have reported that all the nests at the Upton Heronry were deserted earlier this month.
Herons are still in residence at Priskilly.
Mike Y-P is keeping an eye on his remaining nest.
So that leaves Velindre, Westfield Pill, Bosherston, and Millin Pill - and anywhere else that is not reported on regularly. Please email results to me here
For the BTO heronries census - the longst-running bird monitoring program - we need ideally a count in April and another in early May, indicating the number of nests built, and the number actually occupied. Nests are easier to see before the leaves come out.
And if there are any little egrets there - please count them too.
