St Davids Hd
A long visit produced the first Grasshopper Warblers (2) and Whitethroat of the year (first Sedge Warbler yesterday), the first Redpolls over and about 25 Willow Warblers and 3 Chiffchaffs present. A steady movement of Hirundines out to Ireland was mainly Swallows but with fair numbers of both House and Sand Martins, a small party of Mipits and a Goldfinch joined them on the way out. Two Stock Doves flew north-west, the first spring record for me here. Also of interest was a party of 6 Magpies over Porthmelgan Valley, there's usually just a resident pair out here. Magpies are rarely recorded migrating if I remember correctly and I'd love to know what they were up to. They disappeared off to the north-east.
