Echoing Pddy's comments, Gt Treffgarne Mountain yesterday afternoon had far more Fieldfares (c50) than Wheatears (1); still several flocks of 100+ Starlings around feeding amongst the cattle. A nice surprise was 3 Bullfinches in the dense hedgerow of the main track up onto the mountain.
The Gann at half tide last night produced only 6 Pale-bellied Brents and a similar number of Curlew. Offshore were a pair of Wigeon and a Great-crested Grebe. Some of the gulls have fixed on individual Oystercatchers, mark them very closely, and then mob them when they get a good worm.
A single Chiffchaff by the road by the Pickleridge Pools. On the pools themselves only a single Redshank (I looked long and hard for the Dowitcher), a dozen Teal and 3 Dabchicks. It must be six months since I have not seen a Goldeneye here.
