Castlemartin and Angle Bay

An early morning start to help with a breeding bird survey at Castlemartin Corse was well worth the effort with glorious weather and plenty of birds. Sedge Warblers were in abundance singing away from the Reedbed and Bushes. A couple of Reed Warblers were chuntering away in the reeds and 4 Cettis Warblers were heard together with several Whitethroats. Reed Buntings were everywhere. 10 or more Snipe showed that some winter visitors are still hanging on although it will be interesting to see if any do breed here.

Mid morning at Kilpaison it was very quiet with 30 or so Oystercatchers, 4 Whimbrel, 2 Curlew and 3 Bar-tailed Godwits - a summer plumage male adding a real splash of colour.
