Another wonderful sunny day, perfect for a trip up the Cleddau River complex.
At Benton Castle on the Daugleddau there was a single Common Sandpiper and nearby a large dog Fox was foraging down on the tideline.
Further up the river at Sprinkle Pill there were 5 Black-tailed Godwits (NB 31 seen at Landshipping Quay by "Jane" yesterday evening and this morning), 9 Dunlin, 20 Oystercatchers.
35 Whimbrel flew down river in the Eastern Cleddau and in the Cresswell River 80+ Whimbrel were seen together with another 7 Black-tailed Godwits and 12 Shelduck. Plenty of Buzzard activity on the north side of the Cresswell with 4 up soaring together and a further 3 chasing each other around.
Despite covering a substantial part of the river system over a 4 hour period no sign of any Ospreys.
Many thanks to my neighbour Jeff for the trip in his boat.
