I spent a very entertaining hour this evening in St Florence watching and photographing Long-tailed Tits bringing food to a nest in the top of a bramble bush. Four adults were bringing in masses of food. Having consulted BWP it seems quite common for "helpers" to be involved in feeding. The helpers are often the adults from a failed nest. The birds occasionally arrived at the nest together and hovered just above the nest once they had deposited their loads. This provided a good opportunity for flight shots - a challenge for the camera and the reflexes!
Good to see that the nest survived yesterday's deluge.
