With recent news of a few early return waders from elsewhere in the county I decided to try Kilpaison this morning. Sure enough as the tide dropped around 10:15 there was a group of 30 Dunlin nearly invisible in the rocks at the top of the beach. All were adults in summer plumage apart from one juvenile. They were joined by 2 Sanderling and, as is often the case with passage birds, were very approachable.
Round at Angle Harbour there were 27 Black-headed gulls (1 Juv) and 2 Med Gulls ( 1 ad. and a 2nd winter)
