I managed to get a quick long distance shot of this very nervy Com Sand this morning off the Outer Breakwater Fishguard Harbour.
Last evening a Song Thrush was singing its heart out as we barbied, nice to know we have them still as a breeding bird. We had Starlings as well up to ten years ago but of course they are long gone , although I did see a single immature bird being chivvied by half a dozen Swallows last night, which may have been local I suppose. It certainly shows that barbies present good opportunities for keeping tabs on local birds! lets hope we have many more this summer...
I spend a lot of time on the ferry to Rosslare and have not to my memory seen early migrations of Starlings from the ship although they may be flying too high. Certainly they breed in Rosslare and are seen year round.
