Newport +/- 7am & Shelducks
At the bridge 2 Kingfishers, 2 Common Sands, a Redshank, a Heron & a newish brood of 9 Mallard ducklings.
Further downstream another Redshank with a Greenshank, 2 more Herons, & oddly, a Snipe trying to hide behind a pile of seaweed then out probing the mud.Small numbers of Oystercatchers & Curlews & plenty of Juv BH Gulls.
The last remaining 2 Shelducks now c6 weeks old - maybe the first to survive for several years. This year we had a brood of 7 which gradually reduced to nil over the next 2 weeks, a brood of 9 still all present 5 days later, then vanished, a brood of 3 several weeks old which appeared from where? & were not seen again, & this brood of 2, 1st seen on June 4,which have inexplicably survived.
