This morning:
Gann: 50+ Curlew on the pools (until disturbed by dogs) and the beach; a Whimbrel heard but not seen.
I was looking for the flock of small waders reported in recent days: I found it through a series of alarm calls, and saw c.20 Dunlin/Ringed Plover types flying away at speed. Then I saw the male Peregrine that had taken one of them at very low level; he landed to eat it on the rocks towards Dale.
Mullock Bridge: several Bullfinches calling persistently, even in the rain.
Marloes Mere: A Green Sandpiper was easily visible from the North Hide, along with two recently-fledged Lapwing and an adult. Surely we would have noticed if they had nested here?
Martin's Haven: a flock of 11 Chough; maybe a joining of two or more families, since the brood size around here seemed to be only 2, possibly 3, this year compared to 4 in a normal year.
