Dale Peninsula
Full circuit of Dale peninsula today (hoping for YBWs), c20 chiffchaffs, and 6 willow warblers (inc 4 quietly working through ivy and buckthorn at St Anns Head), goldcrest by Dale Fort. Whinchat, GSWoodpecker and 2 whitethroats. Flocks of up to 30 young chaffinch. Swallows heading out SE thoughout the morning. c15 wheatear including 10 in cattle field at Kete. Quick look at the Gann, 4 Bar-tailed godwits, 2 egrets, 2 heron, 6 skylarks heading out into the bay and a kingfisher sat on a muddy bank out of stiff breeze. Deer Park: 2 sightings of wryneck, a kestrel and spotted flycatcher. And thanks to Dave for putting us onto the wheatear, and providing a real education as well. Excellent photo of Mikes showing the comparative features. Plenty of flylife, the wheatears were taking craneflies. A few Small Coppers along coast.
