Ganntastic!

Diverted from going cycling by news of a reported Lesser Yellowlegs at the Gann, I was somewhat dismissive when I located a nice juvenile Redshank in the exact spot the 'legs had been reported from.  Enjoyed good views of the Semipalmated Sandpiper on the first island on the lagoon with Derek, and as he headed home I progressed up the lagoon and 20 seconds later I clapped my eyes on the Lesser Yellowlegs (a juvenile) on the second island - wow!  I ran back onto the ridge and shouted for Derek to come back, which he did, and we enjoyed nice views of the bird as it fed on the island.  It didn't look settled though, doing 2 fly-arounds and calling several times, when at 6.37pm it got up, called, flew over our heads and headed up and across the bay towards Point Farm/Dale Fort (i.e. SE) and was lost to view at 6.39pm.  Glad I managed to fire off one record shot before it went!  An unbelievable run at the Gann....really goes to show that the only way to know what birds go through a site is to watch it 365-7-24!  I didn't see the Common/Spotted Sandpiper but there was a Green Sandpiper, Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Redshank, 7 Dunlin and 8 Ringed Plover.  At Marloes Mere 4 Green Sandpiper and a Dunlin from Oriole Hide.
